Supervisory Board
In Germany, serving on the supervisory board of a public limited company involves complex responsibilities – particularly for listed companies or businesses regulated by the German Federal Financial Supervisory Authority (BaFin). Yet the role extends far beyond oversight and compliance. It is equally about advising the executive management, providing strategic guidance, and acting as a trusted sparring partner in the best interests of the company. Navigating this balance between governance and strategic counsel is what I find particularly rewarding. I currently serve on the supervisory boards of Sparkasse Bremen AG and Lisega SE.
Advisory Board
An advisory board is a valuable instrument for supporting family-owned businesses and other organizations. I enjoy contributing my experience and innovative mindset to the development of strategic and operational topics, while bringing an external perspective that helps drive long-term business success. My background as a fourth-generation family entrepreneur has often proven particularly valuable in this role. For the past nine years, I have served as a member of the advisory board of the NWB Verlagsgruppe in Herne, supporting the company in its ongoing development and strategic direction, espacially in time of AI.
Startup Mentoring and Support
Germany remains a country of ideas and innovation. Many founders, however, lack access to guidance, experience, and capital during the critical stages of building their businesses. As sparring partners, we can provide strategic support, share entrepreneurial experience, and help navigate key challenges. We also contribute through our national and international networks, connecting startups with relevant partners, investors, and opportunities. In some cases, this involvement may evolve into an investment or long-term partnership.
Supporting the startup ecosystem in Bremen is also a personal passion of mine. Since the founding of the Startup Turntable Bremen, which I co-founded, significant progress has been made. Yet, as is often the case, change happens more slowly than it should. What is needed is greater speed and more capital—there is certainly no shortage of good ideas.
